Contact Admin. For six weeks students immerse themselves in the language and culture by living with host families in Eutin while receiving KU credit for classes taught on-site by KU faculty. The group will travel to Cologne along the banks of the Rhine River, the ancient Roman city of Koblenz, medieval Nuremberg, and the Bavarian capital of Munich.
With a population of 17,, Eutin provides our students with a safe and well-rounded environment which is easily navigable by foot, bike, or bus, while still offering numerous cultural, historical, and entertainment venues. The lakes and forests surrounding Eutin are home to many outdoor activities such as boating, canoeing, swimming, and hiking. Within the city itself, students will find many stores, markets, and sports facilities, in addition to the storied Eutin Castle and gardens.
GERM and GERM are the third and fourth courses in the sequence of KU German courses aimed at developing your knowledge of German language and culture and enhancing your speaking, writing, reading, and listening skills. Both courses provide a structured language review while also introducing advanced grammar commonly used by native speakers so that you become increasingly proficient at expressing your thoughts, feelings, and opinions on a variety of subjects relating to everyday life.
You will not only learn how to interpret different spoken and written genres, you will be creating them yourselves as we connect the topics and texts discussed in the classroom to real-life situations and experiences with German culture.
GERM is a conversation course designed for beginning speakers of German. You will learn basic techniques and strategies for conversing in German, expand vocabulary and idiomatic usage, and improve accuracy in grammar and pronunciation.
